How to Become a CSEF Sponsor/Contributor

The Colorado State Science Fair, Inc. is an independent, nonprofit organization. Thanks to the support of generous corporations, foundations, government agencies, organizations and individual donors who believe in the importance of science education, CSSF, Inc. has served Colorado and its students for 59 years. Read last year's Annual Report.

CSSF, Inc.'s vision is to honor excellence in science, engineering and technology; provide opportunities for students from all regions of the state to create and present their research in environments that nurture interests in science and technology; and promote professional skills, high ethical standards, diversity and continuing intellectual development.

We welcome consideration of support of any kind for the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair, including the following specific opportunities:

Financial Support:
The Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) is totally dependent on sponsorships and contributions from businesses, organizations and individuals in Colorado to cover the expenses of the CSEF. From exhibit space rental to grand award prize money to funding the trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for the top Senior Division winners, it takes a lot to make this a special event for the participants. Also, the CSSF, Inc. Board of Directors has recently embarked on a campaign to raise more money in order to fund the following priorities:

    • Hire a full-time CSEF Director who will be able to work more directly with the 13 Regional Fair Directors and interact more with teachers at the school level. This is an effort to better support teachers doing science fair in their classrooms.
    • Increase the Grand Awards given at the CSEF to a level more indicative of a state level competition.
    • Increase the participation of students at the Regional Science Fair and school level.

Contributors provide financial support up to $500 to the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair. To make a monetary contribution to the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair, complete the Contribution Form and mail it (with or without the check) to the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair. Contributions can also be made through PayPal.

Sponsors provide financial support of over $500 to the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair and are encouraged to provide up to 2 members for the Board of Directors. For more information about becoming a sponsor of the CSEF, contact Larry Knauer, Finance Committee Chair or complete a Sponsorship Form. Sponsorship levels are divided as such:

Diamond Sponsors - financial support of $10,000 or more
Platinum Sponsors - financial support of $5,000 - $9,999

In-Kind Contributions:
To make an in-kind contribution to the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair, complete the In-Kind Contribution Form and mail it to the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair. For information on what in-kind services the CSEF needs, please contact the Executive Director, Courtney Butler.

Special Sponsorships:
Special Sponsorships constitute a category of support that supplements the Financial Sponsorships to cover a range of support needed to put on the CSEF. These special sponsorships allow for support of specific activities that are a part of the CSEF and as such, present opportunities for sponsors to advertise their involvement with the CSEF to a greater extent. Areas that have been identified for the special sponsorships include the Teacher of the Year Award (currently being sponsored by Lockheed Martin), the pizza party (currently being sponsored by Lockheed Martin), the awards ceremony, specific category awards, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair trips (currently being sponsored by Intel), printing of various CSEF publications, t-shirts, and registration packets. To join the group of Special Sponsors, please contact Courtney Butler, Executive Director.

Special Awards:
The CSEF Special Awards Program supplement the Grand Awards given in each category and division. Your organization may choose to provide representatives to judge exhibits and present awards based on your own criteria. Awards may include cash, savings bonds, calculators, computers and other prizes, summer job opportunities, and college scholarships (see below). For more information on becoming a Special Awards Organization, contact Samuel Bartlett, Special Awards Coordinator or visit the Special Awards Organization Information page. Please see the CSSF, Inc. Special Awards Program Policy for details on award minimums and organization responsibilities.

Scholarships & Internships:
CSEF Special Awards Program also includes the granting of scholarships from universities and internships from businesses and organizations. For more information on becoming a scholarship or internship provider, contact David Holm, Scholarship/Internship Committee Chair. Please see the CSSF, Inc. Scholarship and Internship Policy for details on developing these types of special awards.

Grand Awards Judging:
Judging is done by professional scientists and engineers who visit each exhibit, review the research, and interview the student researchers. To volunteer to become a CSEF judge, contact Nancy Glissmann, Grand Awards Judging Coordinator or visit the Grand Awards Judge Information page.
